Self-Discipline, How to bring discipline in Life

Self-discipline begins with Mastering control on your own thoughts. If you don’t control what you think, you can’t control what you do.

Self-discipline is about controlling your desires and impulses while staying focused on what needs to get done to achieve your Goal.

You know most of us break the self-discipline everyday, that too before the day starts. It gets broke when we snooze our Alarm Clock.

If you want to get up at 6.40 in the morning set Alarm for 6.40 only, rather than setting at 6.30 and snoozing it for 10 minutes.

So now let us discuss how to achieve self-discipline:

  • Become comfortable with discomfort. If you are in comfort zone then come out of comfort zone How?.. Read this …How to come out of comfort zone…
  • Visualize your success, which will make you stay focused towards your Goal.
  • Learn to manage your time by managing priorities – If you want to know how to manage priorities read my article Utilizing time effectively by Priority Management…
  • Do regular Mediation and exercise, this will increase your will – power, focus and concentration.
  • Learn to say NO, else you will be running out of time always.
  • Think before you make a commitment and and once you have made commitment then complete that commitment.
  • Know your weaknesses and try and improve on those weaknesses.
  • Set Goal in life and have an execution plan to achieve the same.
  • Challenge yourself, Start doing what you are afraid of doing.
  • Form some Good Habits, First you form habits and then habits forms you… Read my post on 30 habits which will make you successful…
  • Forgive yourself, learn from failure and move forward.
  • Have an attitude of gratitude.
  • Learn to forgive people, whether to forget or not is up to you.
  • Eat Healthy , Stay Healthy.
  • Early to bed and Early to rise

What is Self-Improvement

Self-improvement is the improvement of one’s knowledge, status, or character by one’s own efforts.

इसे हम थोडा detail में समझते है….

हम Self-improvement के बारे में तभी सोच सकते है, जब हम  ये मानने के लिए तैयार हो की, हम मैं भी कुछ कमिया हो सकती है, और self-improvement की आवश्यकता है,क्यों की कोई भी person Perfect नहीं होता है, लेकिन हम कोशिश कर के अपनी कमियों को दूर कर सकते है|

What we need to do for Self Improvement

  1. Self-Control- सबसे पहले हमें अपने आप पर control करना होगा, क्यों की हमें जब भी self-improvement का ख्याल आता है, तो हम आज की बजाय कल पर टाल देते है, यदि आप चाहते है की आप में improvement आये, तो इसके लिए आप को सबसे पहले अपने आप पर control करना होगा
  2. Do little more – Self Improvement के लिए आप को कल से बेहतर करना होगा, इसके लिए ज्यादा कुछ करने की जरुरत नहीं है, बस आप को, अपने बीते हुए कल से थोडा ज्यादा करना होगा, Little Bit….More……….
  3. Paint yourself with  New Skills– जब घर में हम Paint कराते है, तो घर नया जैसे लगने लग जाता है, जबकि घर तो पुराना ही होता है, ठीक वेसे ही हमें भी नए Paint…….. यानी की New Skills की जरुरत है self –improvement के लिए,  Learn New Skills……. For better tomorrow…………
  4. Develop a new habit- कहते है की आदत बदलने से लोग बदल जाते है, Self-improvement के लिए हमें हमारी आदत को बदलना पड़ेगा, हमें हमारी regular आदत को change करना है,यदि आपकी आदत Books पढने की नहीं है, तो Start reading books for Self-Improvement, क्यों की Books पढने से आपका knowledge ही बढेगा, आप मेरी post HABIT- change your Habit, Change Your Life  वाली post पढ़ सकते है|
  5. Set Goal or Target- आप self-improvement के लिए goal set करे, क्यों की जब तक आप कोई goal set नहीं करेंगे, तब तक क्या करना है, मालूम नहीं होगा और आप अपने goal की तरफ आगे नहीं बढ़ पाएंगे|
  6. Positive Self-Talk- हमारा mind 24*7 चलता ही रहता है, हम दिन भर कुछ न कुछ सोचते ही रहते है, Negative or Positive,….. बस हमें केवल positive ही सोचना है या मैं ऐसा कहू आप जब भी अपने आप से बाते करे, तब आप positive ही बात करे, ऐसा करने से आपके mind में positive विचार आयेंगे और उसका result भी positive ही आएगा|
  7. Ask Questions- जब तक आप पूछेंगे नहीं, आप को पता नहीं चलेगा की, आप को क्या करना है, कैसे करना है, कब करना है, अपने आप से ये सवाल पूछे, सवाल पूछने से आप की जानकारी ही बढेगी, और यदि कुछ कमी हुई तो आप उसमें सुधार कर सकते है|
  8. Be Ready for Changes- हम change से डरते है, यदि आप self-improvement चाहते है तो आप को change के लिए हमेशा तैयार रहना होगा, ये change कुछ भी हो सकता है जैसे सुबह जल्दी उठना, TV नहीं देखना, exercise करना और वो सब Changes जो आपको डराते हो.
  9. Leave your Comfort Zone- Self-Improvement के लिए आपको अपने Comfort Zone से बाहर आना होगा|Comfort Zone- The way to come out of it.
  10. Believe in Yourself-लोगो को अपने आप पर भरोसा ही नहीं होता है, की वो भी कर सकते है, अपने आप पर भरोसा करना की, मैं कर सकता हूँ, ऐसा सोचना भी अपने आप में एक नई energy भर देता है|

इस तरह आप अपने आप में Improvement ला सकते है, बस आवश्यकता है तो अपने आप पर भरोसा करने की और एक कदम बढ़ाने की…….

Benefits of Mastering Self-discipline

In my previous post on Mastering Self – Discipline… we have discussed on how to achieve self-discipline, so now we will discuss the benefits or advantages of mastering self-discipline.

Benefits of Self-Discipline:

  • Your decision making will improve and you will be able to keep your commitments.
  • It will improve your thinking and you will become more open in your thinking.
  • You will become more confident, and this confidence will make it easier to take criticism more positively.
  • In developing and maintaining good relationships. In a good relationship, we value loyalty, honesty, integrity, responsibility, understanding, etc., and these qualities are possessed by a self-disciplined person.
  • It will help in fulfilling your dreams or Goal in life. For fulfilling your dreams you need a lot of dedication, hard work, determination, focus, positive attitude, etc. and all these can only come from mastering self-discipline.
  • Your life will become stress-free.
  • In achieving self-control. A person with self-discipline will always be very careful in using words while talking.
  • In building your inner strengths and you will become mentally strong. When you become mentally strong you will stop self-doubting.
  • To stay focused in your life by training your mind constantly and practicing good habits which in turn helps you to lead a better life.
  • In our current daily life, there are a lot of negative feelings due to which there are chances of getting distracted from the goal. It improves our self-control so that the mind wouldn’t get distracted and that will increase self-confidence.
  • Discipline creates respect – People automatically respect someone who is disciplined, who is focused, who is self-driven.
